Rotate a photo
Turn a photo the right way round, on the reveal or from More, everywhere it shows.
Since build 10
The camera stands each photo upright from the way you hold the phone, and it can guess wrong: phone flat on a table, pointing up at the sky or down at a plate, or turned at the last moment. Then the photo comes out sideways. You can turn it the right way round.
Turning one
- On the reveal, before you share or keep it: the turn arrow next to the date under the print.
- Later, on any of your own photos: open it, tap More, then Rotate.
Each tap on the turn button turns it a quarter clockwise, straight away on screen, as often as you like. Save to keep it that way, or Cancel. Saving takes a few seconds: the photo is turned on your phone and goes up again. It needs a connection; offline it says it couldn't.
Only your own photos turn, and clips don't (yet).
What changes, and what doesn't
- Everywhere the photo shows, it shows the new way round: the feed, the viewer, your weeks, Selects, Rewind, recaps, the widget, and copies you save or export.
- The film look stays: it's already in the photo.
- The date stamp stays at the bottom right: it's drawn over the photo, not into it (and burned into copies only when they leave the app).
- Likes, comments, notes and Selects stay with it.
- Friends see it turned the next time their feed refreshes.
